Amira Ahmed

Human Rights Investigator at United Nations Human Rights

Amira Ahmed is a seasoned Human Rights Officer with extensive experience in various capacities within the United Nations system. Currently serving with the UNITED NATIONS MULTIDIMENSIONAL INTEGRATED STABILIZATION MISSION IN THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC since May 2019, Amira Ahmed focuses on enhancing the capabilities of defense and security forces in collaboration with Central African authorities, particularly regarding human rights due diligence. With dual roles at OHCHR since March 2015, Amira Ahmed conducts investigations into human rights abuses and has contributed to a Commission of Inquiry on human rights in Eritrea. Amira Ahmed's past positions include monitoring and reporting on human rights violations during service in Liberia and Darfur, as well as a significant tenure in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2015 to 2018. Throughout these roles, Amira Ahmed has consistently advocated for compliance with international human rights standards and assisted local entities to combat impunity and protect civilian populations affected by armed conflicts.
