John Rutere, MBA, CPA, CFA has a diverse work experience across various organizations. John currently serves as the Head of Finance and Management Services at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) since 2021. Prior to this, they worked at UNFCU as a Member of the Supervisory Committee starting from 2017.
From 2009 to 2021, John held key positions at UNDP, including Chief of Financial Performance Management and Chief of Treasury Accounting & Reporting. Before joining the United Nations, they worked as a Senior Investment Professional at Davidson Kempner Capital Management LLC from 2008 to 2009.
John also gained valuable experience as a Vice President at GE Capital Corporation from 2002 to 2008. Prior to that, they worked as an Investment Banking Associate in the Industrial Products and Services Group at Bear Stearns & Co. Inc. from 2000 to 2002. John began their career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where they served as a Manager in Advisory Services from 1991 to 1998.
John Rutere obtained their Bachelor of Business Administration degree at an unknown institution in 1991. John then became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in June 1991 through the Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In 1997, they obtained the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association. From 1998 to 2000, John attended the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, where they earned their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree with a focus on Corporate Finance. In 2001, they obtained the Series 7 and Series 63 Broker Dealer Exams certifications from the North America Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Lastly, John became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in May 2002 through the Institute for Investment Management and Research.
