Teresa Smallwood is currently the James Franklin Kelly and Hope Eyster Kelly Associate Professor of Public Theology at United Lutheran Seminary, a position held since July 2021. Concurrently, Teresa serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Associate Director of the Public Theology and Racial Justice Collaborative at Vanderbilt University, where efforts focus on fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and advocacy for racial justice in America. Prior to these roles, Teresa was a Professor at Strayer University, teaching various online courses in Humanities, Critical Thinking, and Law from April 2012 to April 2016. Teresa holds a PhD in Theology, Ethics, and Human Sciences from Chicago Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Howard University, a Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
