Ianis Girgenson is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in telecommunications and media law. Currently serving as Group General Counsel at United Group B.V. since August 2020, Ianis oversees legal matters in one of Southeast Europe's leading operators. Previously, Ianis held the position of Associate General Counsel at VEON from June 2016 to July 2020, where significant work involved multinational operations and substantial customer bases. Earlier career highlights include roles at Baker Botts LLP as a Consultant, where Ianis represented Halliburton in a major acquisition attempt, and Special Counsel at Covington & Burling, focusing on significant investigations. Additional experience includes serving as Senior Associate at Fried Frank and as an Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, with a record of successful merger control representation. Ianis holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and a DEA in Private International Law from the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne.
