Annemarie Strassel

Lead Communications Coordinator at UNITE HERE

Annemarie Strassel has extensive experience in various roles throughout their career. Annemarie began their work experience in 2001 as a Teaching Fellow at Yale University, where they continued until 2005. In 2005, they joined UNITE HERE as the Lead Communications Coordinator, where they were responsible for designing and overseeing communications strategies for labor advocacy campaigns. Annemarie also organized media campaigns and speaking tours for housekeepers nationwide. Additionally, they trained worker spokespersons and connected worker stories with major media outlets. In 2006, they worked as a Teaching Assistant at Wesleyan University. From 2012 to 2015, they served as an instructor at Columbia College Chicago, specializing in courses that explored the connection between dress and social issues. In 2012, they briefly worked at the University of Illinois at Chicago as a Curriculum Designer and Guest Instructor for a social media course focused on social justice.

Annemarie Strassel earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History and Art History from Case Western Reserve University between 1994 and 1998. Subsequently, they pursued a Ph.D. in American Studies from Yale University between 1999 and 2008.
