Shain Shapiro PhD is a prominent figure in the music industry, currently serving as the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Music Ecosystems since January 2021. In addition to this role, Shain is a Member of the Expert Facility for the UNESCO 2005 Convention, with tenure from January 2024. As an author, Shain penned the book "This Must Be The Place: How Music Can Make Your City Better," released in September 2023. Shain is also the Founder and Executive Chairman of Sound Diplomacy and has held multiple founding leadership roles within the organization. Additionally, Shain co-founded Unison, focused on blockchain technology in music rights management. Previous achievements include working as a Freelance Music Journalist, serving as Press Manager for One Little Indian, and contributing to the Canadian Independent Music Association in a freelance capacity. Shain's academic credentials include a PhD in Cultural Studies from Birkbeck, University of London, a Master's degree from the University of Amsterdam, and an Honours BA from McMaster University.
