Gerson E. Pineda

Head Of Unit A.i. (latin America & The Caribbean) at UNESCO

Gerson E. Pineda has a diverse work experience in both international and national organizations. Gerson E. started their career at the Honduran Ministry of Finance as a Legal Adviser, where they drafted legal documents and provided advice on tax, customs, administrative, and international law. Gerson E. also represented the organization in court and conducted training for staff.

After their time at the Ministry of Finance, Pineda joined UNESCO, where they held various roles. Gerson E. started as a Team Assistant within the National Commissions Unit and later worked as a Team Assistant at Cultural Policies and Development. In these positions, they assisted in organizing cultural events, conducted research, and coordinated communication with member states and other institutions.

Pineda then became an Associate Liaison Officer within the Latin American & Caribbean Unit, where they prepared analytical and briefing notes for the Director-General's meetings and official visits. Gerson E. also acted as a front desk officer, dealing with inquiries from member states and national officials.

Currently, Pineda is the Head of Unit a.i. for Latin America & the Caribbean at UNESCO. In this role, they are responsible for promoting and strengthening relations and cooperation with member states and regional organizations in the region. Gerson E. coordinates briefings and meetings, supports the Director-General's missions, and ensures effective communication with relevant stakeholders.

Throughout their career, Pineda has achieved notable accomplishments, such as representing Honduras in international forums on tax matters and creating and structuring the General Secretariat at the Honduran Customs Administration. Gerson E.'sexperience has provided him with a strong understanding of legal frameworks, communication skills, and the ability to coordinate and lead teams.

Gerson E. Pineda's education history is as follows:

- From 2017 to 2019, they attended Aix-Marseille University and obtained a Master's degree in International and cross-cultural negotiations, specializing in Latin America, with a field of study in International Relations and Affairs.

- From 2015 to 2017, they pursued a Master's degree at Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana, with a focus on Corporate Law.

- From 2009 to 2014, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras.

- From 1996 to 2009, they attended Lycée Franco Hondurien and earned a General baccalaureate.

In addition to their academic degrees, they have also obtained several certifications, including Effective Communication in the Workplace from UNESCO and the BSAFE Certificate of Achievement from UNDSS. Other certifications include ICT Security Training from UNESCO, MOOC Gestion de Projet from MOOC Gestion de Projet, Intellectual property law workshop from the Intellectual Property Protection Organization, DALF C1 from République française, Trade Facilitation through Modernization of Administration in Customs from KOICA, Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt from the Lean Six Sigma Institute, From trust to promise to contract from Harvard University, Human Resources workshop from Procuraduría General de la República de Honduras, Criminalistics workshop from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, and Diploma English course from Instituto Hondureño de Cultura Interamericana.
