Dr. Mauro is President of UNC Faculty Physicians and Senior Executive, Revenue Cycle, UNC Health Care. Dr. Mauro holds the James H. Scatliff Distinguished Professorship of Radiology and is a Professor of Surgery. He has been a faculty member at UNC since 1982.

A prolific researcher, his interests include interventional oncology, venous access, embolotherapy, the management of vascular malformations and stent grafts. He has contributed extensively to the scientific literature, in particular publishing research in dialysis access, venous intervention, stenting and the evolving field of interventional oncology. Dr. Mauro is Chair of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Board of Directors. RSNA is the world’s largest and most influential radiological society.
