Jessica Simo has a diverse work experience spanning different healthcare organizations and roles. Currently, they serve as the Clinical Director for Children's Outpatient Services & Pediatric Palliative Care at UNC Children's. In this role, they are responsible for the operation and growth of multiple outpatient care clinics and provides administrative leadership for the pediatric palliative care program.
Prior to their current position, Jessica served as the Director of Duke Children's Ambulatory Services & Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center. Jessica played a crucial role in the clinical operation of three pediatric outpatient locations and collaborated on establishing the strategic growth plan for the Pediatric & Congenital Heart Center.
Before that, Jessica worked as the Health Center Administrator for Duke Family Medicine & Duke Outpatient Clinic. Jessica had operational responsibility for two primary care residency training sites and managed all aspects of the clinical operating budgets and volume targets.
Earlier in their career, Jessica served as the Network Coordinator for the Duke Division of Community Health, where they led a community-based Medicaid care management program. Jessica also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the UNC Department of Health Policy and Administration and as a Health Policy and Administration Intern for the Duke Division of Community Health.
Additionally, Jessica has experience outside of healthcare. Jessica worked as a Program Coordinator for Ipas, Inc, a non-profit global health organization, and as a Technical Recruiting Manager for Computer Horizons Corp. Jessica also worked as a Contractor (Part-Time) for the NC Department of Transportation, where they were involved in process improvement and software development projects.

Jessica Simo received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from North Carolina State University in 1998. In 1992, they participated in an exchange student program through Rotary International, studying Spanish. Jessica went on to earn a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2002 to 2004. In 2023 and 2024, Jessica attended the UNC Health Coach Training Academy, specializing in Leadership Coaching. Additionally, they obtained various certifications including Lean Healthcare 200H: Applying the Fundamentals from NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions in May 2016, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from North Carolina State University in December 2015, and a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI in June 1999.
