Pedro Martins is a seasoned AI Research Scientist with extensive experience in developing multilingual language models and advancing natural language processing technologies. Currently employed at Unbabel since October 2022, Pedro focuses on the pre-training and development of multilingual large language models. Previous positions include serving as an NLP Researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações, where Pedro developed retrieval-augmented models for machine translation and introduced an unbounded memory for transformer models. Prior to that, Pedro held roles as an IT Advisor at KPMG Portugal and collaborated on the SocRob @ Home project at Instituto Superior Técnico. Pedro's academic credentials include a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, both obtained from Instituto Superior Técnico.
