Andre Martins has a solid background in research and development, with experience in both industry and academia. Andre started their career as a researcher at the Reverse Engineering and Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR) in 2003. Andre then went on to work as a research engineer at Priberam from 2004 to 2007. After that, they joined Google as a research intern for a few months in 2011. Andre then returned to Priberam in 2012 as a research scientist. Currently, Andre is the Head of Research at Unbabel, where they focus on machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing for AI-powered human quality translation.
Andre Martins completed their education from 2007 to 2012. Andre obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Language Technologies and Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Simultaneously, they also pursued a Dual Degree in Electrical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, as part of the CMU-Portugal program.
