James Wu

Director Corporate Development & Head Of M&a at Umicore

James Wu has a diverse and impressive work experience. James started their career as a Strategy Consultant at Roland Berger, where they worked from 2009 to 2010. James then joined TE Connectivity, a global technology leader, and held various roles including Senior Manager of M&A and Strategy. James was responsible for strategic planning, pursuing inorganic growth opportunities, and driving the inorganic pipeline process.

In 2020, James joined Carmeuse Group as the Director of M&A and Strategic Projects. James was in charge of strategic projects and investments, partnerships, M&As, international development, and China affairs. James was recognized as a "Super Performer" in 2020.

Currently, James is working at Umicore as the M&A Director of Corporate Development. James is responsible for M&As, JVs, strategic partnerships, corporate ventures, and international development.

Additionally, James is also a Member of the Board of Directors at Extra Mile Materials, a Umicore Anode Subsidiary Company. Here, they spearhead and supervises business development, strategic partnerships, and financing for Umicore's next-gen Silicon Carbon Composite anode-active materials for EV batteries.

James Wu has a diverse education history. James obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD in 2015 and also completed an MBA Exchange Program at The Wharton School in the same year. Prior to their MBA, they earned a Certificate in Globally Distributed Work and Cross-Cultural Management from Stanford University in 2007. James completed their undergraduate studies at Peking University, where they received a B.A. in Economics from the China Center for Economic Research (CCER), National School of Development in 2009, as well as a B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the School of Foreign Languages in the same year. Additionally, they participated in an exchange program at York University in 2008, studying English Literature and Marketing. Before their university education, James attended Shanghai High School from 2002 to 2005.
