Janna Crocker has a diverse work experience. Janna currently holds the position of Spacecraft Systems Engineer at Umbra, where they collaborate with various teams on system-level understanding and workflow improvements. Janna supports spacecraft modeling, simulation, and mission design for current and future development efforts. Prior to that, they worked at ASME as the UCSB President, overseeing all club activities and leading the process of becoming an official nonprofit. Janna also served as the UCSB VP Internal, organizing club events and managing project grant funding. Janna has experience as the Research Team Lead in the Drawing Stabilization for Stroke Rehabilitation Research Group, focusing on software development and creating a robotic controls system. Janna has also worked as the General Catalog Student Assistant at UC Santa Barbara, aiding in website redesign and developing a guidebook on effective course descriptions. Additionally, they gained industry experience as an RDS Hardware Development/Platform Integration Engineering Intern at Roche, where they designed experiments and maintained machine components. Janna has teaching experience as a CAD, Computer Science, and Data Science Instructor at Juni Learning and as a Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing Intern at LearningClues. Janna has also held leadership positions, such as the UCSB Vice President of Finance for the Phi Sigma Rho National Sorority, where they managed the chapter's budget and accounts. Janna's work experience extends to their involvement as a Crew Member on the UC Santa Barbara Rowing Team and as an HR Administrator at VAT GROUP, where they reorganized and digitized HR data.
Janna Crocker completed their high school education at Santa Clara High School from 2014 to 2018, earning a High School Diploma. Afterward, they pursued their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering at UC Santa Barbara starting in 2018. This program is expected to be completed by 2023. In addition to their formal education, Janna obtained a Student Pilot's License (VFR) from the Federal Aviation Administration in June 2017 and a Wilderness First Responder certification from Wilderness Medical Associates International in March 2022.
