Morgan Benton has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. In their most recent position at Ultranauts Inc, Morgan serves as a Principal Engineer/Engineering Success Manager. They are responsible for guiding and shaping the technical practice across all teams engaged in software and data quality assurance. This includes setting professional benchmarks and standards, mentoring both junior and senior engineers, evaluating new technologies, and addressing day-to-day coding challenges.

Prior to Ultranauts Inc, Morgan owned and operated their own company, Morphatic, starting in 2005. Additionally, they worked as an Associate Professor at James Madison University from 2012 to 2022, where they pioneered a choose-your-own-grade pedagogy and criticized traditional grading systems. Before that, Morgan held a position as an Assistant Professor at James Madison University from 2006 to 2011.

Earlier in their career, Morgan served as a Special Lecturer at the New Jersey Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2006, and as an English Teacher at the Hiroo Town Board of Education from 1998 to 2001.

Morgan Benton earned a Bachelor's degree in Leadership Studies, Sociology, and Physics from the University of Richmond between 1992 and 1996. Later, from 1999 to 2007, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Information Systems at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
