Helen Pidgorna

Program Director at Ukraine Global Scholars

Helen Pidgorna has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and positions. Helen is currently serving as the Ukraine Global Scholars Program Director since August 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Program Manager in Ukraine for Ukraine Global Scholars from May 2021 to July 2022. In addition, Helen has also worked as a Research Fellow at the ZOiS - Centre for East European and International Studies starting from September 2023.

Helen has also worked as an Expert at the Reform Support Team at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine from January 2021 to June 2022. Helen founded and served as the Director of the Education Centre EL's School from July 2012 to June 2022. Earlier in their career, Helen was a Scholar at Chevening Scholarships in 2018-2019.

Prior to their educational and research roles, Helen worked as an Associate (Banking & Finance) at Sayenko Kharenko from October 2008 to August 2012. Helen was an English Language Teacher at the English School for Legal Analysis and Writing from 2010 to 2012. Helen also gained experience as an Enforcement Officer at the State Enforcement Service of Ukraine from 2007 to January 2008.

Furthermore, Helen worked as an English Language Teacher at Private School "Veresen" from 2005 to 2007 and interned at the NGO "Rada-Pravo" from 2003 to 2004.

Helen Pidgorna's education history includes a Bachelor's degree in English Language from V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, completed between 2003 and 2007. Helen then pursued a Master's degree in Law from Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, completed between 2002 and 2007. Following that, they obtained another Master's degree in English Language and Literature from V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, completed between 2007 and 2008. Later, Helen completed a Master's degree in School Improvement & Educational Leadership from the University of Birmingham between 2018 and 2019. Currently, they are pursuing a degree in Sociology of Education at Uppsala University, starting in 2021.
