Francis Mwesigye has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Their most recent role is as the Chief Economist and Director for Economic Research and Knowledge Management at Uganda Development Bank since January 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Economic Policy Research Center from August 2020 to February 2022. Francis also served as a Research Fellow at the Economic Policy Research Centre from August 2015 to August 2020, and as a Research Associate at the same institution from October 2014 to July 2015. Francis worked as a Teaching Assistant at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies from April 2013 to September 2014, where they taught advanced microeconomics, advanced development economics, mathematics for economic analysis, and international trade. Francis also gained experience as a Research Assistant at the Global Center of Excellence from April 2012 to April 2013. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Auditor at Ernst & Young in 2008 and as a Research Assistant at the Policy Analysis and Development Research Institute in 2007.
Francis Mwesigye completed their B.A in Economics from Makerere University, where they studied from 2005 to 2008. Later, from 2009 to 2014, they pursued a degree in Policy Analysis with a focus on Development Economics at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies.
