Florence De Smedt has a strong background in portfolio management and governance within the pharmaceutical industry. Florence most recently worked at UCB as the Portfolio Management Lead since 2020. Prior to that, they held various roles at GSK Vaccines, including Director of Portfolio Management and Director of Governance Integration Management. In these roles, they were responsible for overseeing the prioritization and governance of R&D projects and ensuring alignment with company processes. Florence also served as a TSA Program Manager, managing transitional services agreements during company acquisitions. Earlier in their career, Florence worked as a Vaccine Project Manager and Clinical Project Manager, where they focused on project planning, tracking, and management across various clinical functions. Florence began their career at UCB as a Clinical Trial Manager, overseeing clinical trials in Europe and the US.

Florence De Smedt received a PhD in Molecular Biology, Enzymology, Cellular culture, and Immunology from the Université libre de Bruxelles between 1992 and 1997. In 2012, they became PMP certified in Project Management from PMI.
