Pierre Vermaak is a highly experienced professional in data science and quantitative analysis, currently serving as Managing Director and Head of Data Forum at UBS since July 2014. This role involves coordinating data projects across the Investment Bank and leveraging data to inform strategic decisions within electronic trading. Prior to UBS, Pierre held various positions at Barclays Investment Bank from May 2004 to July 2014, including Head of FRC eTrading Rates and Credit Quants, where a focus on fixed income algorithmic modeling led to significant team growth. Earlier experience included working as a Senior Developer at Anvil Software Limited, specializing in financial software development. Pierre holds a PhD, MSc, and BSc (Hons) in Astronomy from the University of Cape Town, as well as a BSc in Physics/Maths from the University of Pretoria.
