Erica Oakley has extensive work experience, starting with their role at U.S. Wheat Associates. Erica began as a Medical Secretary at Duke University Medical Center in 1999 and worked there until 2004. Erica then joined Futures Group International as a Program Associate from 2007 to 2009. Erica continued their career at the Academy for Educational Development as a Project Associate in the Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance II (FANTA-2) program from 2009 to 2010. Erica then joined Humanitas Global as an Associate from 2012 to 2015. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Programs at U.S. Wheat Associates since July 2021. Before this, they served as the Director of Programs from 2017 to 2021, and as a Programs Manager from 2015 to 2017.

Erica Oakley has a B.A. in International Studies from Meredith College, which they obtained from 2004 to 2007. Erica later pursued an MA in International Relations from Utrecht University from 2010 to 2011.
