Markell Williams has a diverse work experience in the field of user experience and information architecture. Markell is currently working as a User Experience Lead at the U.S. Green Building Council since October 2022. Prior to this, they founded HealthySoul LLC in 2020, where they served as the Integrative Health & Wellness Coach. From December 2019 to October 2022, Markell worked at Liquidity Services as a Senior Designer, UX and later as the Usability Lead. Markell also has experience as a User Experience Architect at Beaconfire RED from September 2015 to January 2019. Before that, they worked as a Senior User Experience Architect at The Web Development Group on a contract basis. Markell has also held roles such as Information Architect at Sapient Government Services, Senior Information Architect/Usability Specialist at HireStrategy, Information Architecture/User Experience Strategist at LookThink, and Senior User Experience Designer at Powell Tate | Weber Shandwick. Markell began their career as a User Experience Analyst at GEICO in 2006.
Markell Williams holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Nutrition/Nutritionist from Maryland University of Integrative Health, completed in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a BS/MS in IT from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2006. In 2009, they pursued an MS-IT(E-Business)/MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus, which they completed in 2012. In terms of additional certifications, Markell has obtained multiple certifications including Agile Meets Design Thinking and Digital Product Management: Modern Fundamentals from Coursera in 2022. Markell also holds certifications in brand strategy, visual communication, social marketing, digital marketing research, social media for nonprofits, and UX design tools. Furthermore, they obtained a ServSafe Manager certification from the National Restaurant Association in 2018.
