Tawney Knecht

Senior Research Scientist at Tynt Technologies

Tawney Knecht has had a diverse and extensive work experience. Tawney began their career in 2011 as an Auxiliary Officer at the Penn State University Police Department, where they were promoted to Shift Trainer. In 2014, they studied abroad at the University of Cape Town in South Africa as part of the CIEE exchange program. From 2015-2016, they worked as a Chick Rearing Unit Intern at the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB), a Seasonal Laborer (Parks) at the City of Westminster, and an Operations Specialist at Maize in the City. From 2016-2022, they worked at the University of Oregon as an Instrument Manager, Nanomaterials Research Chemist, and Teacher and Mentor. In 2020, they were awarded an Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) fellowship at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Finally, in 2022, they began working as a Research Scientist at Tynt Technologies, Inc.

Tawney Knecht has a long history of education. Tawney obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Forensic Chemistry and Criminology from Penn State University from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, they attended Westminster High School from 2007 to 2011. Tawney is currently pursuing their Chemistry Ph.D in Materials Science at the University of Oregon, which they began in 2016 and is expected to complete in 2022. In addition, they have obtained two certifications: 3D Illustration for Science Communication Using Blender from Scidart Academy in 2022, and Articulate Storyline Essential Training from LinkedIn in July 2021.
