James Hirst began their career in 1999 as 2nd Line Support for 3Com USRobotics. In 2000, they moved to Freezone Internet Ltd as Tech Support Manager. In 2001, they became Owner of The Website Shops - A4 Internet Ltd. In 2009, they joined Reading Room as Project Director, then later as Director and finally as Commercial Director. In 2015, they were appointed Advisor to the Board of Trace Publicity and COO & Co-Founder of Tyk. At Tyk, they were responsible for the leading Open Source API Management platform, which was available in the cloud, data centers, or anywhere. James also opened offices in London, Singapore, Atlanta, and Toronto and built a remote-first organization with team members in 21 different countries, spanning five continents.
James Hirst attended Reigate Grammar School from 1991 to 1998, where they studied Politics, Business Studies, and Geography. James then went on to University College London, University of London, where they earned an LLB in Law from 1998 to 1999.
