Sara Manning has worked in the field of research and development for the past 20 years. In 2021, they began their current role as Senior Manager R&D at Tvardi Therapeutics. From 2016-2021, they worked as Laboratory Manager at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, where they helped initiate and maintain compliance protocols for the laboratory, maintained the biosafety manual, and worked with legal and supply chain to initiate agreements for the laboratory. From 2014-2016, they worked as Laboratory Manager at the University of Michigan, where they worked on clinical studies and maintained compliance protocols. From 2011-2014, they worked as Research Assistant II at the Children's Medical Center Research Institute at UT Southwestern, where they maintained IACUC compliance protocol, managed incoming shipments of animals with cross country move, and took weekly inventories for laboratory colonies. Finally, from 2001-2011, they worked as Research Assistant I at the University of Michigan, where they maintained IACUC compliance protocol and provided the PI with monthly lab animal inventory.

Sara then completed a Certificate Program in Cancer Research Administration and Management from UT MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences between 2019 and 2021.
