James Darin Pope, Ed.D., currently serves as the Deputy Superintendent of Teaching & Learning for Tuscaloosa City Schools since June 2015, previously holding positions as Director of Student Literacy and Director of Elementary Education. Prior to this role, James worked at Selma City Schools from June 2008 to June 2015 as a Reading Coordinator and Principal. James earned a Doctor of Education degree with a focus on Reading from Nova Southeastern University between 2016 and 2019.
