Sharon Courtney

Vice President For Government & Community Relationa at Tulane University

Sharon Courtney is an experienced external relations professional currently serving as Vice President for Government & Community Relations at Tulane University since September 1994. In this role, Sharon coordinates and manages relations with governmental and community stakeholders for the institution, including its medical center and national primate research center, while also advising the university president. Prior to joining Tulane University, Sharon worked as a Legislative Assistant for U.S. Representative John Murtha from March 1989 to August 1994, dealing with health care, education, and entitlement program issues, and briefly served in a similar role for U.S. Representative Larkin Smith in 1988. Sharon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Mississippi, obtained between 1983 and 1987.
