Simran Trana has a diverse work experience spanning over the years. Their most recent role is as the Head of IP and Licensing at True Essence Foods, where they focus on developing innovative food and beverage solutions without additives or preservatives. Prior to this, they served as the Associate Vice President of Innovation and Commercialization at the IU Innovation and Commercialization Office, overseeing the development and implementation of various projects.
Before joining True Essence Foods, Simran worked at Corteva Agriscience, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont, where they held the position of Digital Crop Protection Program Leader, responsible for developing digital offerings and strategies to drive value for the company. Simran also served as the Licensing Manager for Corteva, responsible for managing licensing opportunities.
Simran's career also includes roles at Dow AgroSciences, where they held various leadership positions, such as Pipeline Launch Leader and Intellectual Property Portfolio Development Leader. In these roles, they focused on strategic IP portfolio management and aligning IP assets with products. Simran also worked as the Technology Licensing Leader and External Technology Leader, collaborating with universities and government agencies.
Prior to their time at Dow AgroSciences, Simran held the position of Director at the Purdue Research Foundation's Office of Technology Commercialization. Simran also worked as the Associate Director at the University of Georgia Research Foundation's Office of Technology Commercialization.
Simran's early career involved working as a Business Development Officer at the National Research Council of Canada's Plant Biotechnology Institute.
Throughout their career, Simran has gained extensive experience in intellectual property management, technology commercialization, innovation, and licensing.
Simran Trana completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Marketing from the University of Ottawa. Simran attended the university from 1991 to 1993. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Plant Genetics from Punjab Agricultural University, where they studied from 1986 to 1988. In addition to their formal education, Simran Trana also received a certification as a Registered Technology Transfer Professional from ATTP in January 2009.
