Maria Apostolopoulou has a wealth of experience in the scientific field. Maria began their career in 2005 as a Lab Assistant at NCSR Demokritos. In 2006, they became a Postdoctoral Researcher and then a PhD at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where they examined cadherin expression in a cancer co-culture system and its effect on cell-cell adhesion. From 2012 to 2016, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the same institution, where they examined how electrical stimulation affected the growth and angionenic properties of Schwannomas and produced patient-specific Schwann and endothelial cells for use in drug-discovery studies. From 2017 to 2020, they were the R&D Director at Akrigene Diagnostics, and most recently they have been a Senior Scientist at Proof Diagnostics, Inc. since 2020. Currently, they are a Clinical Scientist at Triumvira Immunologics, Inc.
Maria Apostolopoulou received their Bachelor's degree in Biology from Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon between 1999 and 2005. Maria then went on to pursue their PhD in Biology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, which they completed in 2011.
