Irma du Plessis has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Irma began their career in 2002 as a Registered Nurse at Mediclinic and later joined Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines as a Ships Nursing Officer. In this role, they managed the medical center onboard cruise ships and provided primary healthcare to the crew. Irma also played a key role in setting up a new medical center during a major refit.

After their time at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, Irma worked as a Registered Nurse at Life Healthcare, where they served as a Shift Leader in the Critical Care Unit at night and acted as the Unit Manager during a three-week period. Irma then joined Adcock Ingram as a Clinical Trainer, responsible for training doctors and nurses on a specific infusion pump and project planning.

In 2013, Irma joined the South African National Antarctic Program as a Medical Orderly. In this role, they were the Expedition Medic for the 70th Marion Expedition, providing primary health care to the team of scientists overwintering on Marion Island. Irma also performed emergency dentistry and radiography.

Irma subsequently worked at Inten Nursing Agency as a Registered Nurse and Carnival UK (P&O Cruises & Cunard) as a Ships Nursing Officer. At Pretoria Verpleegdienste, they again worked as a Registered Nurse. Most recently, Irma has been employed at VIKAND Solutions, where they served as a Ships Nursing Officer, leading the nursing team on several cruise ships.

In 2021, Irma joined Tritan Software as a Manager Medical Services, further advancing their career in the healthcare industry.
