Sony Cortes is an Associate attorney with the firm. Prior to joining Tristan & Cervantes in February of 2020, Sony was a paralegal at a lender, assisting the company with regulatory and statutory compliance. Prior to that, during the summer of 2018, Sony interned at a large tax consultancy. Sony also worked as an Alternative Dispute Resolution intern at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
At Tristan & Cervantes, Sony focuses his practice in the areas of law: Administrative and Regulatory, Business Formation and Transactions, Construction and Development, Commercial Litigation and Transactions, Labor and Employment, Real Estate and Land Use, and Municipal and School.
Sony received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014, achieving a status of summa cum laude. He also served as the treasure of the Pre-law Society during his time at UIC. Sony received his Juris Doctor degree from the IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2019. While at Chicago-Kent Sony completed the Certificate Program for Labor and Employment Law. He also earned the CALI Award for Administrative Law, Legal Writing 4, Employment Relationships, and the Labor & Employment Externship Class.
