Cormac Purcell

Chief Scientist at Trillium Technologies

Cormac Purcell serves as the Australia and New Zealand Program Director at Trillium Technologies since July 2020, leading open scientific research initiatives and fostering interdisciplinary communities. In parallel, Cormac is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at UNSW Computer Science and Engineering and an Honorary and Lecturer at Macquarie University, where Cormac emphasizes collaboration between academia and industry in technology for planetary stewardship. Cormac's prior experience includes co-founding Sci-eye to develop an AI shark detection system, contributing as a postdoctoral fellow at several prestigious institutions including the University of Sydney and the University of Leeds, and working as a Yield Engineer at Intel Corporation. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from UNSW and a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Physics from Dublin City University.
