Syed Ali is the chief technology officer at Traxen. He brings 14 years of experience in developing automated driving features and systems engineering to the team.
Throughout his career he has led automated driving research and provided technical leadership in designing driver assist systems for several Tier 1 automotive suppliers and an OEM. Prior to joining Traxen, he was the global product owner for lateral control-based driver assist functions at General Motors, where he led the design for lateral assist features that were in production on several programs around the world. Prior to GM, he was the technical lead for automated driving research and development at DENSO, overseeing research focused on several areas related to self-driving including sensing layout, localization using high-definition maps and path-planning for complex urban driving scenarios. Additionally, Ali has served in systems engineering roles for adaptive cruise control and lane departure prevention features.
He earned a Ph.D. in computer engineering from Wayne State University (WSU) after completing research focused on learning human-like driving style for self-driving vehicles. Ali also earned a master’s degree in computer engineering and a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from WSU.
