Julian McCormick has a strong background in project management and controls. Julian started their career in 2006 at MWH, where they held various roles including GMPTE Project Controls and Systems Manager, Project Controls Manager for United Utilities AMP 4 Programme, and Senior Project Controller for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. In 2011, they joined TfGM as the Project Systems & Controls Manager, and later became the Head of Portfolio Controls and currently serves as Head of Programme Management Office. Julian has extensive experience in developing control strategies, setting up project processes and systems, and managing large teams.

Julian McCormick started their education journey at Hulme Grammar School, Oldham from 1986 to 1991. After completing their schooling, they attended Holy Cross 6th Form College between 1991 and 1993. Following this, they pursued a degree in Biological Sciences at The Manchester Metropolitan University from 1994 to 1998, earning a BSC in Biological Sciences.
