Xiang Liu has been working in the field of Materials Engineering since 2010. In that year, they began a role as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2015, they joined Transphorm Inc. as a Member of Technical Staff, Materials Engineering, and was later promoted to Senior Member of Technical Staff, Materials Engineering.

Xiang Liu obtained a BS in Physics from Wuhan University in 2003, followed by an MS in Physics from North Carolina State University in 2005. Xiang then completed a PhD in Physics with a minor in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2008. In 2019, they obtained a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt from ASQ - World Headquarters.
