Kieana Fana has a diverse work experience spanning several fields. Kieana started their career as a Cost Analyst Intern at ABC Group, where they conducted market research, competitor analysis, and evaluated financial performance. Kieana also researched customer activity and worked on a case study.
Kieana then moved on to the Institute for Quantum Computing, where they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, designing control structures for a quantum computer and analyzing statistical properties of the gravitational wave background. Kieana utilized MATLAB and Python for mathematical modeling and Bayesian inference methods.
At the University of Waterloo, Kieana worked as a Research Assistant, modeling cross-correlation signals of the gravitational wave background and using Python to measure their sensitivity to different astrophysical parameters.
Kieana continued their research at the Institute for Quantum Computing as a Research Assistant, this time designing printed circuit boards and creating a hand-held testing device for a quantum computer.
At the University of Michigan, Kieana worked as a Research Assistant, contributing to a mission concept and rover design for a 3D-printed lunar habitat project.
Kieana also held positions at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts as a Graduate Student Instructor, teaching Introductory Astronomy and Physics lab sections, assisting students during office hours, preparing lectures, and grading.
Lastly, Kieana is currently employed at Trans Astronautica Corporation as an Astronautical Engineer, utilizing their expertise in engineering tasks.
Kieana Fana completed their Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics with Physics at the University of Waterloo from 2016 to 2021. They then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Space Engineering from the University of Michigan from 2021 to 2022.
