Wasim Akram, Ph.D. has a strong background in engineering and research, with a focus on lubrication and tribology. Wasim Akram, served as the Lead Engineer - Lubrication & External R&D Partnership at Trane Technologies, where they were responsible for identifying new lubrication systems and technologies for use with emerging refrigerant chemistries. Wasim Akram, also provided technical guidance to the Materials & Chemistry Lab Team and consulted on business continuity opportunities. Prior to this, they were the Advanced Tribology Program Lead at Trane Technologies. Wasim began their career as a Research Engineer at United Technologies Research Center before joining the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Graduate Research Assistant and Teaching Instructor. Overall, Wasim Akram has a wealth of experience in lubrication, tribology, and research in the engineering field.

Wasim Akram, Ph.D. pursued their education in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Wasim Akram, completed their Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology between 2001 and 2008. Wasim Akram, then pursued a Master's degree in Ocean and Mechanical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University, which they completed in 2010. Building upon their education, they went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they completed in 2014.
