Kavita Bala is the Dean at Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science since August 2020, where Kavita also leads the Cornell AI Initiative, promoting collaboration in artificial intelligence research and application. Bala is a Professor at Cornell University with a focus on computer graphics, computer vision, human perception, and crowdsourcing, having served in various academic roles since September 2002. Additionally, Bala is active in the ACM SIGGRAPH community, holding multiple committee memberships, and serves on the board of ColorStack and as a trustee for the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago. Bala was the Founder and Chief Scientist of GrokStyle and has held editorial positions, including Editor-in-Chief for ACM Transactions on Graphics. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
