Melissa Demmitt is a communications professional with significant experience in public relations and media management. Currently serving as the Director of Communications for the Town of Flower Mound since April 2021, Melissa previously held the position of Director of Public Relations for the Town of Christiansburg from May 2016 to March 2021, where responsibilities included serving as the town spokesperson and FOIA officer, along with managing media relations and communications. Prior experience includes working as an Account Executive at Edelman, where Melissa was involved with technology and health IT accounts, and serving as a Reporter for The Roanoke Times, focusing on civil and criminal courts. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from Washington and Lee University and a Local Government Management Graduate Certificate from Virginia Tech.
