Asa Thomas began their work experience in 2012 as an intern at Leiden University Library, where they worked in the Projects and Innovation team of the Digital Services department. During their internship, they conducted research on the appraisal of emails and word processor documents for born-digital academic archives and produced a report outlining the importance and risks of these documents for preservation.
In 2013, Asa joined TOPdesk as a Technical Writer, focusing on providing guidance to users through manuals and ensuring clear and self-explanatory text in the software. They also worked on promoting feature adoption.
In 2016, Asa transitioned to the role of Scrum Master at TOPdesk, where they supported two multi-disciplinary teams in translating ideas and goals into value. They emphasized communication, team dynamics, and sustainable progress, sometimes addressing difficult issues to facilitate team decision-making.
Currently, Asa holds the position of Team Manager at TOPdesk, beginning in June 2021.
Asa Thomas pursued higher education starting in 2008 at Leiden University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English Language and Culture in 2011. They then continued their studies at the same university and completed a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Book and Digital Media Studies from 2011 to 2013.
