Boris Lai is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in animation and digital asset management systems. Currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer at Toon Boom Animation Inc. since March 2017, Boris developed code for the Producer product, enhancing project management for artists and coordinators through a web application utilizing React, NodeJs, and Python. Prior to this role, Boris was the Director of Engineering at Southpaw Technology Inc., overseeing the maintenance of the open-source TACTIC system and coordinating development efforts. As a software engineer, Boris contributed to TACTIC's development and provided consulting services to the entertainment industry. Earlier career experiences include pipeline software engineering at Core Feature Animation, lighting and matchmoving at Calibre Digital Pictures, and animation at Optix Digital Pictures. Boris holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto and a certificate in Digital Animation from Centennial College.
