Melynda Brewer has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Melynda started their career as an intern at Orthopedic Specialists in 2012. Following that, they worked as an office assistant at Central Triad Services in 2013. In the same year, they also started working at Tom A. Finch Community YMCA as a lifeguard, where they were responsible for various groups in the pool area and emergency response. Melynda transitioned to Alamanace County Community YMCA in 2014, where they served as an aquatics coordinator, overseeing daily pool operations and training and certifying staff. In 2016, they returned to Tom A. Finch Community YMCA, this time as the director of aquatics, and later as the operations director in 2022. Their roles included managing aquatic programs, facility operations, and staff training.
Melynda Brewer obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where they studied from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they attended Davidson County Community College from 2008 to 2010, but did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. Melynda also holds a certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor/CPR-PR/AED/First Aid, which was obtained in 2014 from the American Red Cross.
