Lieven Standaert is a Technology Expert at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where responsibilities include coordinating fablab-brussels for the Industrial Engineering department since January 2015. In addition, Lieven has been a freelance workshop teacher at timelab since August 2010, focusing on the design and management of open-source CNC-machines. As a designer and engineer, involvement in the Aeromodeller II project showcases a new type of airship that promotes responsible energy usage through hydrogen generated from wind power. Lieven also serves as an artist at Verbeke Foundation and previously worked as a lab manager at Erasmushogeschool Brussel. Earlier career roles include freelancing for Deltareference and teaching science at Instituut Heilig Graf. Education includes a degree in Product Development from Hogeschool Antwerpen and an architecture degree from Ghent University.
