Previously, Laru worked as a Claim Officer at Asuransi Astra, handling motor vehicle claims and customer complaints, and as a Foreman at Toshiba, overseeing the production of TV tubes. Early career experience includes an internship at Inalum. Laru Asmara Jaya holds a High School Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from Politeknik Negeri Medan.
