Carole started their career as a Community Consultant at BabyCenter, where they supervised a team and managed the largest online community for new and expectant mothers. Carole then joined Yahoo! as a Community Manager, where they worked on engagement and outreach for Yahoo! Groups and Yahoo! 360 community. Carole also served as a member advocate and content strategist during their time at Yahoo!.
Carole later worked at MarketTools (now MetrixLab) as the Director of Product Management, where they led a team and implemented the Idea Networks market research platform for various clients. Carole established best practices for community recruitment, engagement, and retention.
In 2008, Carole started their own consulting company, www.carolemcmanus.com, where they provided strategic and tactical consulting in marketing and social media. Carole also served as the Director of Marketing for Ticket Out Inc., where they managed the social and web teams for CatCon and DogCon, the biggest pet-centric pop culture conventions in the world. Carole was responsible for strategy and implementation of social marketing campaigns, content creation, and website development.
In 2018, Carole became the Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Next For Me, an organization focused on providing resources and support for individuals navigating midlife career transitions. Carole also served as a Co-Author for Next For Me.
