Originally from Uganda, Barbra Marden lived in Italy for several years before coming to United States in 2001. She attended college at Northeastern University (Boston Massachusetts), where she obtained an Associate Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS). She later transferred to Vermont in 2003 to attend the University of Vermont (UVM) where she graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a concentration in MIS. She pursued her Masters of Public Administration (MPA) at the University of Vermont which she completed in May 2018.
The MPA program has fostered her desire to further participate in her community. Currently, she is fully engaged in the Shelburne community and school system. She volunteered in the Shelburne Community School to work directly with children in grades 1-4 while teaching the Hands-on Nature Program. She also participates in the mentoring program. Barbra is a member of the Town of Shelburne Social Services Committee and serves as the Membership Chair and on the Board of her congregation.
