Micah Forstein began their career in 1990 as a Motion Lab Engineer at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, where they designed and supervised construction of a gait analysis laboratory, assisted clinicians with clinical data collection, and administered system assets. In 1998, they moved to Integrated Surgical Systems as a Senior Project Engineer, where they led nearly 12 projects to convert various hip and knee implant systems from a variety of implant manufacturers, for use with ROBODOC surgical assistant. In 2003, they joined Zimmer as a Senior Development Engineer, leading a project team of 35 in a multidisciplinary approach to oversee ULS medical device development from kick off to launch for the Trauma division. In 2007, they moved to Fujifilm Medical Systems as a Senior Software Developer, where they developed anatomic feature based heuristics for clinical procedural workflow design, including orthopedic, spinal, curved MPR, and fusion. Finally, in 2013, they joined THINK Surgical as a Manager, Implant Device, Assistant Manager, and Biomedical Engineer, where they formalized processes to convert various hip and knee implant systems from variety of implant manufacturers, for use with robotic surgical systems. Micah also developed specifications and workflow for surgical planning workstations and Robotic Surgical Systems as part of a cross disciplinary team.
Micah Forstein attended the University of Minnesota from 1984 to 1988, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Micah then attended Rensselaer at Work from 1988 to 1993, where they earned a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering.
