Jason Plyler

Jason Plyler has a diverse work experience in various research and scientific roles. Jason most recently worked as a Molecular Biologist at Theradex Oncology starting in 2021. Prior to that, they were a Research Associate at Oregon Health & Science University from 2020 to 2021, where they focused on cellular neighborhoods of viral reservoirs using the NHP as an animal model.

From 2016 to 2020, Jason served as the Team Lead of the Sequencing and Genomics Section at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). During this time, they managed projects related to B cell receptor repertoires and transcriptomes of patient samples following vaccination for Influenza and HIV.

Before that, they worked as a Scientist I at Asuragen from 2013 to 2016, and as a Research Associate at Bioo Scientific from 2012 to 2013. Jason gained experience as a Graduate Student at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA) from 2009 to 2012, where they focused on Real-time Investigation of Simian Virus 40 Large T-antigen Helicase Activity.

Additionally, Jason worked as a Graduate Instructional Assistant at Texas State University from 2007 to 2009, teaching Organic Chemistry Lab and taking courses in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Jason also worked as a Laboratory Manager and Chemist at Myramid Analytical from 2006 to 2007, participating in emissions tests and training as a certified visual emissions expert.

Earlier in their career, Jason worked as a Medical Technologist at TLC Health Network in 2004 and as a Research Technician at The CBR Institute of Biomedical Research from 2003 to 2004, gaining experience in genotyping, FACS analysis, and SKY techniques.

Jason Plyler earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Medical Technology from SUNY at Fredonia from 1996 to 2002. Jason then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biochemistry from Texas State University from 2007 to 2009. Subsequently, from 2009 to 2012, Jason obtained another Master of Science (MS) degree in Biotechnology from UT-Health Science Center in San Antonio.
