Liu Yang serves as a Reader and Senior Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde, specializing in areas such as wind turbine blade recycling, composites recycling and reuse, and the design of composites through finite element analysis (FEA). Key research focuses include structure-performance relationships in composite materials, thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers, and interfacial interactions in multiphase systems. Liu Yang also holds the position of Industry Fellow at The Weir Group PLC, associated with the Royal Academy of Engineering. Educational qualifications include studies at the University of Strathclyde and The University of Sheffield.
