Shadi Hamid is a Senior Fellow at The Brookings Institution, where involvement spans from January 2014 to the present, and also serves as a Fellow at the Center for Middle East Policy. In addition, Shadi Hamid holds positions as an Assistant Research Professor of Islamic Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary and as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service, both of which commenced in January 2022. Prior experience includes serving as the Director of Research at Brookings Doha Center from November 2009 until January 2014. Shadi Hamid earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science and Government from the University of Oxford.
