Deputy Managing Editor, News Operations And Planning at The Washington Post

Liz Seymour is an accomplished journalist with extensive experience in leadership roles at major news organizations. As Deputy Managing Editor of The Washington Post since April 1999, Liz oversees news operations and planning, managing budget, security, standards, and HR while collaborating with various departments on revenue and digital growth initiatives. Previously, as Executive Features Editor, Liz led a 90-person Features department, implementing a significant reorganization to enhance digital focus. Earlier career positions include Correspondent at the Los Angeles Times and Staff Writer roles at The Detroit News, Detroit Sunday Journal, and The Register Citizen. Liz holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government from Smith College.
