Matthew Armstrong, MPA, CPRP has over 14 years of experience in various roles within the field of community development, parks, and recreation. Matthew is currently serving as the Director of Resident Services at the Village Center Community Development District, where they are responsible for overseeing the provision of services to residents. Prior to this, they held the position of Assistant Director Recreation & Parks, Recreation Manager - Facilities & Personnel, Recreation Facilities Manager, Recreation Area Supervisor, and Recreation Supervisor within the same organization. In these roles, Matthew managed day-to-day operations, scheduled staff, handled budgeting, provided excellent customer service, and organized events and activities to encourage social involvement.
Before joining the Village Center Community Development District, Matthew worked as a Recreation Specialist at the City of Eustis Parks and Recreation department, where they assisted in coordinating various recreational activities and provided instruction on sports and other activities. Matthew also gained experience as an Assistant Activities Director at The Bridge at Ocala and as a Store Lead at Nike Outlet.
Matthew Armstrong holds a Master's degree in Public Administration (MPA) and is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP). Their extensive experience and expertise in resident services, facility management, and program coordination make him a valuable asset in any community development organization.
Matthew Armstrong, MPA, CPRP has a Master's degree in Public Administration - Organizational Management, which they obtained from American Public University from 2014 to 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Sport Management and an Associate's degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Flagler College from 2004 to 2008.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Matthew also has several certifications. Matthew is a Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP), which they achieved in November 2013 through the National Recreation and Park Association. Matthew has also completed the Joe Abraham's Academy program offered by the Florida Recreation and Park Association in August 2017. Furthermore, they have obtained the Trained Crowd Manager certification in August 2016. Matthew has also completed the Emerging Leaders program, also offered by the Florida Recreation and Park Association, in September 2011. Additionally, they hold a CPR & AED certification.
